Given the central role of knowledge and technology in the economic growth and development of countries, today the knowledge-based economy has replaced the resource-based economy. One of the most important pillars of the knowledge-based economy is the existence of knowledge-based companies, the formation, survival, and development of which requires the use of knowledge absorption and creation mechanisms. Given the project-oriented nature of technological and knowledge-based products in these companies, in many cases there is specialized knowledge for each technological project, but their managers cannot succeed in absorbing and applying external knowledge due to lack of project management knowledge or neglect of the necessary measures for managing technological projects. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between absorptive capacity and project management measures in these companies. With this in mind, in this study, project management measures were first identified based on the project management configuration standard and the dimensions of knowledge absorption capacity. Then, using the results of the expert survey questionnaire and the interpretive structural modeling method, the relevant variables were categorized, leveled, and the relationships between them were explained. The theoretical population of the research included experts from knowledge-based companies in Kerman province, and the theoretical sample included 20 qualified working experts who were selected from ten selected companies that were willing to cooperate based on a judgmental and purposeful method. The research findings showed that in the resulting multi-level interpretive structural model, knowledge absorption capacity was at the highest level as a dependent variable, and the three variables of project integration management, project scope management, and project stakeholder management were at the lowest level as independent variables, and the other variables were at intermediate levels. In addition, no variable was placed in the autonomous variable group.
