The present study aims to identify, prioritize, and analyze the factors affecting the successful implementation of fourth-generation technologies in the insurance industry of Iran. The research employed a mixed and phased approach. In the first phase, a qualitative method using thematic analysis was applied to extract influential factors. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 15 experts, including senior managers, technology consultants, and academic specialists in the insurance sector. These interviews aimed to identify initial concepts and codes, which were subsequently categorized into themes and subthemes. In the second phase, the identified factors were screened using the fuzzy Delphi method to eliminate less significant items, resulting in the selection of ten key factors for impact analysis. In the third phase, the fuzzy DEMATEL technique was utilized to analyze causal relationships among factors and determine the most influential elements. This method enabled the assessment of each factor’s degree of influence and susceptibility, as well as the extraction of interaction and net effect indices. The findings indicated that among the ten key factors, collaboration with startups and insurtech companies, cybersecurity and data protection, transparency in processes and decision-making, capability to work with emerging technologies such as AI and blockchain, compliance with insurance regulations, and personalization of digital services were the most influential factors, in descending order. Factors with positive net effect values were identified as primary influencers, whereas those with negative net effect values were considered dependent factors. These results suggest that successful implementation of fourth-generation technologies requires a focus on fostering an ecosystem of collaboration with startups, strengthening cybersecurity and data protection, enhancing transparency in decision-making, upgrading employee capabilities in emerging technologies, and aligning operations with regulatory and customer expectations.
