Abstract
The aim of this study is to analyze the economic interactions and spillovers between Iran and India, focusing on the economic growth rate during the period 1974 to 2024. For this purpose, the vector autoregression (VAR) approach, Granger causality test, Johansen cointegration and instantaneous reaction functions were used. The findings of the study show that a one-way causality relationship exists from the economic growth of India to Iran. The results of the Johansen test also confirm the existence of a stable long-term relationship. Analysis of variance and action-response functions indicate that the Iranian economy is very sensitive and affected by Indian economic shocks, while the Indian economy, due to its macro dimensions and more stable structure, is exogenous and independent of Iran’s economic shocks. These results emphasize the need to review Iran's trade strategies with the aim of benefiting from India's economic stability.
